Below are most of the details that I have been able to
find in a search that began when I found out I was adopted. That was in
1977, aged 37.
It has been a long slog trying to find my birth family. The breakthrough came at the end of November, 2004. I posted a message on one of the genealogy boards, GenesReunited, requesting information about adoptees tracing their families. One lady emailed me and suggested I get in touch with Joan Allan and post a message on her website, www.MyFolks.co.uk, which I did. Within an hour, Joan had phoned me and told me I had an older half sister, Shirley. Joan also found Gerald's present address, Shirley's husband, so I wrote to him. He phoned me up a few days later and told me that Janina's mother was actually another half sister. He also told me about a sister, Pat, and that my mother remarried. He gave me a couple of addresses in Harlow, one of which is Pat's. I wrote to her and she phoned me on Tuesday 21st December, 2004. What a Christmas present! |
